But – and here’s the puzzle, how do they get the vertical slit design on the lens to stay vertical. I always thought the basis of contact lenses mounting to the eye was there ability to move and self lubricate as the eye blinks.

Surely this would cause these novelty ones to move around? Not a problem for some designs – like the swirls or the all one colors – but those with a distinct design and pattern – wouldn’t they just look odd, lopsided and as though your face was melting?

Someone actually told me that what the maunfacturer does is buildit with a very small weight bias to the ‘bottom’ edge of the lens. As you place it on your eye and blink it into place, it slowly turns and settles in the right position, the minuscule amount of weight aettling it to the right position.

Ain’t science marvellous?
